“ LatinCon 2019 is a gathering of powerful women bringing awareness, education, and advocacy to current topics affecting Latinx women. Our mission is to bring women together to inspire them through workshops and panel discussions that are socially relevant and dynamic. "

SERA, Inc. was recently represented at the first ever LatinaCon event in Houston, Texas. The event featured numerous panels of Latina and LAtinX women that have made a difference in their communities. The panels ranged in topics from Advocacy and Law, Afro-Latina Identity, Latinx Mental Health, and Latinas in Education among other related areas specific to women, business, and overall affecting topics.

Latinas Rising is an organization focused creating social change in the latinx community. We seek to educate and advocate on a variety of social justice topics such as, latinx mental health, violence against women, education, and civic engagement. We believe all Latinx stories are important and we choose to celebrate Latinas working, "boots on the ground."

Maria Elene Cortes is an International Award-Winning Author, Marie Elena spoke about "Why Latina Stories Matter." She is a nationally reconginzed TV and radio star and published author of two children’s books: My Annoying Little Brother and My First Classroom. Her award-winning Chapter book, Neglected by Two Countries, was published in 2012. She is now involved in Manos que Sanan-Healing Hands International project as a Kids Sunshine Ambassador. The Event was hosted by local celebrity Claudia Macias and was hnored to have hosted influential guests such as, Luisa Montalvo, World Champion Speaker and Rosie Castro as special Keynote speaker discussing activism and political issues.
